![]() ![]() ← This would probably be incredibly difficult to do, almost like programming a completely new game I’m guessing. I’ve seen a couple other people in this forum say they wanted “A Diablo 1 remake where it used the base Diablo 2 mechanical engine rather than the original Diablo 1 engine.” When the OP said “Using the Diablo 2 Resurrected engine” I assumed he meant the same thing, which would be a Diablo 1 remake, not a Diablo 1 remaster. For example: In D1 characters are very limited to how the movement works from square to square and which square they land in when they go to strike an enemy, but in D2 it’s much more fluid. I’m talking about these comments I see where people encourage the idea that Diablo 1’s old engine could be updated so that it worked like Diablo 2’s engine. Graphically as a simple remaster, I assume it would work fine. BlizzConline 2021 starts today at 2 PM PDT so stay tuned for more details.TSBoyer I do not see how it would not work seeing as how the Diablo II: Ressurected engine seems to be fully 3D and not pre-rendered and the main challenges dealing with aspect ratio, resolution and tile placement should not be an issue from a programming standpoint seeing as they could use the exact same SDK they just created for a Diablo I remake just as easily as they could make a theoretical (not real) Act 6. Once again, take all this with a grain of salt, even with the leaker’s recent record. The game apparently slated to release this year. Online play isn’t forced and there will be a technical alpha to sign up for. Other improvements include dynamic lighting, though it will still be as dark as the original, and cross progression (which seems to indicate a release on previous and current-gen consoles). ![]() The remaster will support controllers and is planned to release on “all major consoles”, including the Nintendo Switch. Audio and cinematics are being remastered while features like a shared stash, auto gold pickup (which can be toggled) and advanced stats summary are also included. ![]() Like with Starcraft Remastered, players can switch between the original and new visuals at will. Though previous reports have indicated it to be a remake, it was noted here to be a “remaster.” “The original game literally runs under the new 3D 60fps graphics engine so that means the gameplay is identical!” Along with apparent details on Diablo 4’s announcements at BlizzConline 2021, leaker PracticalBrush12 also shared information on Diablo 2 Remastered. ![]()
